About the Role

As an Employment Specialist Case Manager at The Center, you will help individuals experiencing severe and persistent mental illness build independence, confidence, and stability through meaningful employment and community support. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, this role focuses on helping clients identify career goals, develop workplace skills, navigate benefits systems, and connect with employment opportunities. Through advocacy, coaching, and individualized support, you will empower individuals on their path toward recovery and self-sufficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide on-site and community-based job coaching and employment support

  • Assist clients with resume writing, job applications, interview preparation, and workplace readiness skills

  • Collaborate with clients and treatment teams to develop individualized employment plans

  • Maintain relationships with employers and identify potential employment opportunities within the community

  • Advocate for reasonable workplace accommodations when appropriate

  • Coordinate with the Social Security Administration to support clients in maintaining or accessing benefits

  • Stay informed about local employment trends and opportunities

  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation related to employment services and client care

  • Protect client confidentiality and ensure required releases and documentation remain current

  • Participate in required trainings, in-services, and professional development opportunities

  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, or related field OR four (4) years of equivalent work experience

  • Valid Kansas driver’s license with favorable driving record

  • Background free of issues related to abuse or neglect

  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and participate in random drug screenings as required

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with individuals diagnosed with Severe and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI)

  • Working knowledge of social service resources and employment support systems

  • Understanding of recovery-oriented care and vocational rehabilitation concepts

  • Experience in advocacy, coaching, or case management services
