When Gambling Becomes More Than a Game

Not sure if gambling is becoming a concern?

If it’s causing stress, financial strain, or impacting your relationships, it may be time to talk with someone.

Gambling doesn’t always look the way people expect. It can show up through sports betting, online gaming, lottery tickets, casinos, or even everyday access to apps and machines. What may start as entertainment can quietly become something harder to control.

At The Center, we offer confidential, one-on-one counseling for individuals who are concerned about their gambling or simply want to take a closer look at their habits.

Your journey begins with a consultation with our Certified Gambling Counselor, who will work with you to better understand your situation and explore personalized strategies for change. Together, we can introduce proven, evidence-based tools to help you regain control, reduce harm, or stop gambling altogether—at your pace.

Even in communities far from casinos, gambling is never far away. With constant digital access, support matters more than ever.

You don’t have to figure it out alone. We’re here to help you take the next step forward.

Let's Start the Conversation

Treatment

Treatment isn’t a one-size-fits-all program—it’s a personalized path toward stability, healing, and hope. At The Center, treatment means working with trained professionals who walk alongside you as you build skills, strengthen support, and move toward a healthier life.

For some people, treatment looks like talking through challenges and learning new coping tools. For others, it might include group support, medication-assisted treatment, or step-by-step guidance through early recovery. No matter where you’re starting, treatment is about helping you make meaningful change at a pace that feels right for you.

Simply put: treatment is support, structure, and guidance—designed to help you reclaim your life.

Is My Substance Use Becoming a Problem?

This brief quiz is for personal reflection only and does not diagnose addiction or any condition. Your answers are private. If your results raise concerns, our team at The Center is here to help—without judgment.

Felt that you should cut down on your alcohol or drug use.

The Center for Counseling Substance Use Director, Kevin Ford

Kevin Ford
Program Director

I’m driven by the moment when individuals recognize they have choices and the ability to change the direction of their lives. I strive to create a space where clients feel heard, accepted, and truly cared for. My approach is grounded in respect — supporting recovery with honesty, dignity, and encouragement.

The Center for Counseling Substance Use Counselor, Jayda Lauber

Jayda Lauber
Substance Use Counselor

My passion for working in substance use recovery comes from personal experiences with addiction—both my own journey and witnessing the struggles of people close to me. These experiences gave me a deep understanding of how heavy addiction can feel and how important it is to have someone you can rely on.

In my work, I strive to be a steady and supportive presence. Rather than pushing someone toward recovery, my goal is to walk alongside them, offering encouragement and reminding them they are not alone on their path forward.

I believe recovery is achievable for everyone, and I’m motivated by helping individuals recognize that possibility within themselves. Walking alongside clients as they begin to see their own strength and resilience is incredibly meaningful to me. I want those I work with to feel genuine hope — that change is possible and that their future does not have to be defined by their past. My approach centers on encouragement, empowerment, and steady belief in each person’s ability to grow.

My lived experience fuels my work every day. After overcoming 13 years of active addiction, I know firsthand that recovery is possible — and that hope can change everything. I’m passionate about sharing that hope and the lessons I’ve learned along the way. I want clients to feel understood and not alone — to know I’ve walked a similar path and believe deeply in the new life that’s possible for them. My approach is rooted in compassion and grace, paired with steady encouragement to keep moving forward.

Because Every Recovery Journey Matters

Recovery is built one step—and one day—at a time. At The Center, we recognize the strength it takes to begin and continue that journey.

Individuals who complete outpatient substance use services receive a recovery token as a symbol of their progress and commitment. Featuring our sprout for growth and renewal, and the message:

“Just for today, I will choose recovery.”

this token serves as a daily reminder of what’s possible.

Recovery doesn’t end when services do. Each month, we host a Recovery Alumni Meeting, welcoming back those who have completed treatment to share their stories, celebrate milestones, and encourage others who are still walking their path.

Because when people share their experiences, it reminds all of us:

Healing is real. Recovery is possible. And no one has to do it alone.

Same Day Support

Starting your recovery journey can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to take the first step alone. Our Substance Use team is here to welcome you with compassion, understanding, and same-day support.

With Open Access Monday–Thursday from 8–4, you can walk in whenever you’re ready and talk with someone who will listen, guide, and help you begin your path to healing.
