Peer Support

Lived Experience. Real Connection. Hope in Action.

What is
Peer Support?

Peer Support services at The Center are available to individuals experiencing mental health or substance use challenges who would benefit from ongoing guidance and encouragement.

Clients are paired with trained Peer Support Specialists—individuals with lived experience who understand the realities of mental illness and addiction and model that recovery is possible. They serve as mentors, advocates, and sources of hope throughout the recovery process.

Our Peer Support services focus on building practical skills that help clients manage symptoms, strengthen independence, and move toward their personal goals. Support may be offered individually or in groups, through telehealth, in our offices, in the community, or at home—always centered on connection, empowerment, and recovery.

Peer Support Goals

As with all our services, we prioritize the needs and goals of the individuals we support. These guiding goals reflect how our Peer Support Specialists work alongside clients who choose to include peer support as part of their treatment team.

1

Help individuals build a supportive network of peers who share similar lived experiences.

2

Empower individuals to make independent choices and take an active role in their treatment.

3

Provide guidance in discussing questions or concerns about medications, diagnoses, or treatment options.

4

Support individuals in identifying personal triggers and early warning signs.

5

Teach strategies to effectively navigate triggers that disrupt daily functioning.
