About the Role
As a Crisis Case Manager / Peer Support Specialist at The Center, you will provide direct, compassionate support to individuals experiencing mental health crises while helping them connect with ongoing services and recovery-focused resources. This role combines crisis response, case management, and one-on-one peer support as part of the Mobile Crisis and Assertive Community Treatment teams. Through outreach, advocacy, education, and lived-experience-informed support, you will help individuals feel understood, supported, and connected during challenging moments.
Key Responsibilities:
Respond to individuals experiencing mental health crises as part of a two-person Mobile Crisis Team serving four counties
Provide case management, assessments, treatment planning, and progress monitoring for individuals receiving Assertive Community Treatment services
Offer one-on-one peer support to individuals in crisis and members of the ACT program
Use recovery-focused support, education, and encouragement to help individuals identify strengths and available options
Conduct proactive outreach to help prevent future mental health crises or criminal justice involvement
Collaborate with law enforcement, hospitals, family members, and community providers to advocate for client needs
Connect individuals and families with appropriate services, supports, and community resources
Provide transportation to complete crisis visits in homes and community settings as part of the Mobile Crisis Team
Assist with crisis visits during Open Access hours and follow up after hospitalization or missed crisis appointments
Complete annual Continued Stay Screens at nursing facilities as requested
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services provided
Participate in ACT and Crisis meetings, agency trainings, and ongoing professional development
Perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
Minimum age of 21 years
Valid Kansas driver’s license with favorable driving record
Background free of issues related to abuse or neglect
Ability to complete Case Management Training within 30 days of employment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in human services, behavioral health, crisis response, or a related field
Working knowledge of community and social service resources
Understanding of recovery-oriented care and peer support principles
Experience motivating or advocating for individuals with disabilities
Experience with program development or service delivery

Travel and physical presence are required for mobile crisis response and community-based services
