About the Role

As an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) at The Center, you will play a vital role in providing psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and ongoing treatment for individuals experiencing mental health and co-occurring conditions. Working collaboratively with therapists, case managers, and other providers, this position supports individuals across the lifespan in achieving improved stability, symptom management, and overall wellness. This role combines clinical expertise with compassionate care to help individuals access effective treatment and move forward on their recovery journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct psychiatric evaluations, medication assessments, and ongoing treatment for individuals with SED, SMI, SPMI, and co-occurring disorders

  • Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with interdisciplinary treatment teams

  • Provide medication education, including expected benefits, potential side effects, and treatment options

  • Monitor medication effectiveness and adjust treatment as appropriate

  • Provide injections as prescribed

  • Coordinate care with internal providers and external community partners

  • Provide consultation to clinical staff to assist in crisis intervention and treatment planning

  • Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation in accordance with regulatory and quality standards

  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA, ethical guidelines, and applicable state and federal regulations

  • Utilize evidence-based and trauma-informed approaches to treatment

  • Participate in clinical trainings, supervision, and professional development activities

  • Represent The Center professionally within the community

  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications
  • Licensed as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by the Kansas State Board of Nursing

  • Master’s degree in Nursing with specialization in psychiatric or mental health care

  • Certification as a Clinical Nurse Specialist, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, or Adult Nurse Practitioner

  • Completion of psychiatric practicum training including diagnosis and prescribing

  • Valid Kansas driver’s license with favorable driving record

  • Background free of issues related to abuse or neglect

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience providing psychiatric medication management in an outpatient setting

  • Experience working with individuals experiencing serious mental illness or co-occurring disorders

  • Bilingual (Spanish preferred)

  • Experience using trauma-informed approaches and evidence-based practices
