Meet Denise:
Denise believes emotions are complex and meaningful, and her goal is to provide a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients can process experiences, build self-awareness, and move through their healing journey at their own pace. Denise Johnson is a licensed master social worker and telehealth therapist with over 24 years of experience supporting children, families, and individuals through a wide range of social, emotional, and life challenges.
Her background includes work with children and families involved in foster care and juvenile detention, as well as individuals impacted by homelessness, partner violence, human trafficking, gang involvement, and other trauma-related experiences.
As a telehealth therapist with The Center, Denise works with children (ages 10 and up), teens, adults, older adults, active military members, veterans, and their families. Her areas of focus include depression, anxiety, trauma-related disorders, PTSD, ADHD, autism, bipolar disorder, mood dysregulation, oppositional defiant disorder, panic disorder, crisis intervention, insomnia, gender identity, and borderline personality disorder.
Denise uses a variety of therapeutic approaches based on each client’s needs, strengths, and preferences. She holds certifications in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TI-CBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), and Military-Focused Care as a Star Behavioral Health Provider.
Outside of work, Denise enjoys adventure and travel. She currently practices telehealth while living and traveling in an RV with her dog, Bailey. She also enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing cards, cooking, being around animals, trying new foods, visiting vineyards, learning new things, and expressing herself through tattoos.
